Your Not Selling Your Soul, but Are You Destroying It? I Was Until…

Growing up, its safe to say I was sheltered. My mom wouldn’t let me partake in things that other kids did and I hated not even realizing what my mom was preparing me for.

I was a virgin til 18 years old. I tell people this and you’d think I hit them with a tazer with some of the shocked looks I get.

After my mother passed away in 03′ I went wild. I stopped going to church and without using these exact words, told God I would get back to him.

Right before graduating, I had sex for the first time ever. It was my first time and while it was a great experience, the feeling that I had reached manhood, was one of the most amazing personal feelings ever but where was that coming from?

It wasn’t coming from God because specifically in 1 Corinthians 6:18
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”

This is one of many verses in the bible that shows that our Father in Heaven strictly forbids fornication and adultery. When we indulge in the joys of this world, we are doing what God calls “pleasing the flesh” and he makes Himself very clear in Romans 8:1-8

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

So what does that mean?

This is basically saying God will not condemn or bring troubles against those that look to please the spirit rather than the flesh or do the ways of this world.

You simply can’t please the flesh and the spirit at the same time.

Now after good times and bad times, wondering if had STD’s, baby scares and other things that come after sex, I decided to slow down.

One day while reading the bible, I came across Proverbs 6:32
“But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.“

(Fornication and adultery are the same in God’s eyes)

What an eye opener!

Opened my eyes like never before and then soon after I got the ultimate scare of my life.

Text on my phone saying she was 3 months pregnant. I looked to God and asked for forgiveness because I felt like I had let him down.

I feel as though I’m a true child of God and I had let my father down. I asked for him to somehow please get me out of that situation but if need be, I would accept the fact and do what I have to do.

Well within 15 minutes I got a text saying it was a joke. I immediately gave thanks to God and told him I wouldn’t let him down again and I’m doing better than my absolute best to keep that promise.

I was parading around saying how rappers and entertainers are selling their souls and here I am destroying my soul. When you sell something, you can get it back. When you destroy something, it is no more.

Your soul might not be what you think

Your soul, according to the bible, is just the living body. YOU!

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

I could have caught numerous diseases because I’ve taken some chances. Would you agree that AIDS, Gonorrhea and other STD’s destroy the soul?

Checked my watch because it was time for change

I deleted everything on my PS3 that had anything to do with sex.

Threw all my condoms in the garbage.

Refrained from going to certain sites on the web.

Deleted pics out of my phone from friendly females that use to like me.

I don’t need anything to put images of sex in my head because God says in Mathew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

If your thinking about it, your lusting and I don’t want lust in my heart. I want my heart devoted 100% to God the father.

So I saw this show yesterday…

Now with the media and music showing so much sex, one is left ask, who is this world for? Pleasing the flesh or pleasing God? I’ll leave that for you to answer.

This is one of the biggest changes I’ve made since my mom passed but I was destined to do this because that’s what my mom instilled in me from the early years when I listened with my ears and not with my heart.

It stuck with me. The bible says raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he Will not depart from thee.

Well here I am. Was gone for a minute but I’m back and I’m packing a bible and the truth which many don’t want to hear but Jesus warned me of this.

So what am I saying?

I’m not telling you to stop having sex outside of marriage today or else you’ll burn in hell fire. Its not my place.

That’s judging. God said it though but he’s giving us the choice of pleasing the spirit or pleasing the flesh.

I chose to please the spirit because I want to get the free gift he promises us for doing His will which is eternal life.
Now am I perfect? Heck no. Not by a long shot but no one is. I strive everyday to walk as Jesus did and that’s what God wants us to do.

He want us to acknowledge our faults and repent of them and when you repent, you abstain from ever doing that again but your not perfect. You will slip but its your duty as a servant of God to get back up and work harder the next time.

Take the veil from over your eyes…

Have you ever realized that everything this world has to offer is fun til you get the side effects?

Drugs turn you to an addict.

Alcohol is fun while your laughing and felling invincible but next your falling in the street and leaning over a toilet or crashing and killing someone. Not fun anymore.

Fornication leaves you thinking you have to keep up with the next guy and have sex with every girl in the world but usually ends in either out of wedlock pregnancies and/or diseases.

Whata does God want from me and you?

All God wants us to do is keep his Law and he promises us eternal life in heaven which we can’t even begin to imagine with the 10% brain power we use. There is no side effect.

When you truly love God, its not hard. My love for God started with fear and he says in Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

If this is scaring you, good. That means God’s word is working and you need more of it.

If you think you can somehow bend the rules or you aren’t scared and in reality are going to keep sinning, then I leave you with this last verse.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He gives you a choice. Will you choose death or eternal life?
